Some Bag Ladies Ain't Read Matthew 25
Although late for Mass, my eye fell upon a another tragic bag lady garbed in the tattered clothing and wild hair of poverty.
Sadly, many turned to coldly stare while others looked away in apparent disgust.
Then, at that moment, I recalled my sweet old parish priest Father Mike's love of Matthew 25 which admonishes us to 'care for the sick, feed the hungry and clothe the naked.'
And so, as if responding to an unseen higher power, I found myself reaching out to this lost child of God far less fortunate than I ... taking her into my arms in an embrace filled with Christian compassion and brotherly love for this outcast bag lady.
Which, in the name of God, I did!
