Is Death Manichean?
Each post is different...
Some filled with rage.
Others laden with laughter.
Or tears.
Or prayers.
Trouble is, I never know which it will be.
Or why.
For example...
Today, I find myself wondering if the German solider who died fighting for his country in the slaughterhouse of Stalingrad more than a half century ago gave his life just as willingly -- or less -- as one of the young Navy seals dead in Afghanistan.
Even worse is my inability to determine which sacrifice was made more willingly -- or less.
Or which was the greater loss.
Or less.
