The Gospel According to Rupert

"It's Not Your Fault!"
Most people need and want to be told they’re not responsible for their lives of quiet desperation – and that others have caused their fear-based feelings of impotence and inadequacy.
Grasp this, and you’ll understand the genius of Rupert Murdoch – and the dynamics that make the “personalities” on Fox news so appealing to millions of Americans lost in an increasingly incomprehensible world they never made.
For example:
Today’s techno-driven world is divided into two groups of people: a small majority of people who know versus a vast majority of those who don’t -- and never will.
The mythic justification for traditional Christianity has lost its power in a world of Newtonian physics, Darwinian biology and the exploration of space.
Few – if any – walk-around folk understand either the meaning or the impact of a Global Economy.
The Tower of Babel was nothing compared to today’s over-whelming deluge of information and impossible multiplicity of choices on the Internet.
The Upward Mobility that once empowered Middle Class America is dying – or dead.
It’s hard to believe our so-called enemies worship the same Abrahamic God who created Adam and Eve and made America the most blessed nation on earth.
And so on…
Thus, in each case, the basic message of Fox news personalities remains: “Be ye not afraid, for we are here to tell you it’s not your fault!”
Because as both Murdoch and Madison Avenue know all too well, “People will buy anything that helps them cope with their fear-based inadequacies.”
Be it beer, Viagra, BMWs, or "faux news" on Fox. JKdeG
